Summary: The Pastor of Youth Ministry provides pastoral leadership to the staff, volunteers, and community within the Youth Ministry Teams at Tenth Sites.

 

Position
: Full-Time (40 hours/week). 



Working Relationships
: Reports to the Family Life Pastor and works closely with the Site Pastors and Ministry Leads.

Ways You Will Contribute:

  • Connecting relationally via mutual open, healthy, and clear communication with Tenth Youth's parents, Central Support Youth Leaders, youth who serve through Central Support, and any youth in crisis or growing in their leadership as identified by their Site Youth Director
  • Developing and leading the implementation of Youth Ministry programming as part of the Family Ministries Strategic Direction, in alignment with Tenth's Vision and Values and the Core Assumptions of Family Ministries. To include:
    • Collaborating with Family Life Pastor to support Tenth-wide monthly Young Adult Ministry gatherings
    • Developing leadership training materials, leading regular leadership training, and equipping Site Youth Directors and Pastors with tools for ongoing leadership
    • Identifying youth curriculum, and establishing and training the Youth Ministry team on recruitment standards and processes to identify and recruit potential leaders
  • Working closely with the Pastor of Children's Ministry and Family Life Pastor on an integrated approach for children, youth & families, and providing input into the Family Ministries' short-term and long-term strategy as it relates to Youth Ministry, with a focus on:
    • Building and overseeing an effective transition journey for students entering and leaving youth ministry
    • Advocating for, communicating with, and supporting the needs of youth across Sites and as part of the Tenth Church family (including integrating youth into serving opportunities in the community).

 

In addition, the role will require:

  • Tracking, analyzing, and responding to established metrics gathered within the Youth Ministry
  • Developing systems and processes that reflect Tenth's Vision and Values and the Core Assumptions of Family Ministries
  • Overseeing the planning and oversight of the annual Family Ministry budget, both centrally and at the site level
  • Ensuring safety standards are implemented and maintained as prescribed in Plan to Protect*.

 


What you Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant theological education, plus 3 years of relevant experience in pastoral leadership, developing emerging leaders, spiritual formation, outreach, and/or discipleship, ideally with 3+ years supervising teams of > 3 people.
  • An authentic, growing faith in Christ, and evidence of ongoing personal spiritual formation and maturity.
  • A heart to work with students in Grades 6-12 and, families and leaders of varied social-economic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds.
  • Relational and outgoing, with a passion for connecting with people including those who do not yet know Christ or have little to no experience with the church.
  • Responsible - able to carry out duties with minimum supervision.
  • Strong computer skills (we use Microsoft Office and Planning Centre Online).
  • Good communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to develop, challenge, and lead people.
  • Committed to attending Tenth Church West Side site.
  • Ability and desire to be licensed/accredited with the Christian & Missionary Alliance
